Ulu Braun
Ulu Braun, born 1976 in Schongau, works and lives in Berlin. From 1996 to 2005, Braun studied painting and experimental film at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, film at the “KonradWolf” Film University Babelsberg and media art at the Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki.
Braun is one of the key figures who have transferred painting into video art and have played a significant role in defining and further developing the genre of video collage. His works have been exhibited at venues such as KW Berlin, Hirshhorn Museum Washington, Shedhalle Zürich, MARTa Herford, Museum der Moderne Salzburg, Berlinische Galerie, Young Projects L.A and Kunsthalle Wien.
His films have been shown at festivals including: Berlinale, Int. Film Festival Rotterdam, Sarajevo Film Festival, Hongkong Int. Film Festival and Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen. In 2013, Braun won the German Short Film Award, and in 2014 the Berlin Art Prize.
